Description
Jamini Roy walked away from European academic painting at the height of his career and never returned.
He turned instead to the folk traditions of Bengal — bold lines, flat colour, and a visual language that felt immediate and unmistakably his own.
Roy also had a quiet sense of humour. These two cats aren’t symbolic or grand — they’re simply absorbed in what matters most to them. The fixed gaze, the still bodies, the complete focus — anyone who’s lived with a cat recognises it instantly.
On BAC’s large-format canvas, that graphic clarity comes through with strong presence — direct, playful, and full of character.
Presented as a BAC canvas installation, the artwork is tension-mounted on solid Sagwan teak. No glass. No outer frame — just a clean, handcrafted structure that sits naturally on a modern wall.
