Description
‘The Coat’ was inspired by an armorial banner that she saw in an English Country manor. She was struck by the design as well as the interplay of its unique colours. The Black and White accented by the Red with a spattering of Blue, set against a sparse stone wall steeped in history was a sight to behold.
Mary Tina Shamli Pillay is a writer and abstract painter drawn to the emotional freedom of abstraction. Inspired by literature, music, travel, and nature, her work invites personal interpretation rather than fixed meaning. Her poetry and art have been featured on BBC Radio, Madras Courier, The Punch Magazine, Artist Talk Magazine, and Borderless Journal, and her paintings have been exhibited and collected in India and internationally.
