Description
Influenced by non-Western art, children’s drawings, and theatre masks—ideas familiar to Indian folk and ritual traditions—Klee reduced the human face to pure geometry and colour.
The work reflects his Bauhaus philosophy: emotion does not need realism to be powerful. The mask-like face hints at identity, performance, and the many roles humans play in society.
Klee used colour blocks not for decoration, but as carriers of mood and meaning.
Senecio stands today as a quiet but radical statement on how simplicity can hold deep psychological weight.
